Education Money for the Taking!

It's that time again, when WFCU offers the membership a number of scholarship opportunities.

WFCU SCHOLARSHIP: Two (2) $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to a WFCU member who has chosen to further their education in an accredited post-secondary educational institution.

Applications are available at local high schools, Clatsop Community College, and WFCU branches. The deadline is April 15, 2003.
RAY KAEGLER SCHOLARSHIP: Available to any Oregon Credit Union member enrolled full-time in a "Graduate Program." To apply, complete a Private Award Application Form available from the State Scholarship Commission, 1500 Valley River Drive #100, Eugene, Oregon 97401 or 800-452-8807. Applications must reach the commission by March 1, 2003. Award winners will be announced July 2003 and granted for the fall of 2003.
2002-03 FINANCIAL LITERACY ESSAY CONTEST: The Financial Literacy Committee, a committee of the Credit Union Association of Oregon, is now sponsoring its 2002-03 Scholarship Essay Contest. This contest is open to any Oregon high school senior associated with an Oregon credit union.
- The essay must be 500 words or less on the topic "What are the benefits of mandated personal finance? How would this affect future students?"
- Essays must be clearly typed on 8 ½" x 11" paper. On a separate sheet, include your name, address, phone number, age, and high school.
- One entry per student.
- Entries must be sent to: CUAO, Attn: Financial Literacy Committee, PO Box 1900, Beaverton, OR 97075-1900.
- Entries must be postmarked no later than March 7, 2003. The winner will be announced May 15, 2003.
LOIS M. HARTLEY BENEFIT SCHOLARSHIP: Available to any full-time undergraduate student who is a member of an Oregon credit union affiliated with the Credit Union Association of Oregon (WFCU members are eligible) and has some form of hearing impairment.

To apply, complete an Application form available from the Oregon Credit Union Foundation, PO Box 1900, Beaverton OR 97075 or 800-688-6098. Applications must reach the Foundation by March 31, 2003. Recipients will be announced in May 2003 and awarded for the fall of 2003.
