Wauna Federal Credit Union has partnered with the Pioneer House homeless shelter to assist the underserved members of our community during the holiday season. The Pioneer House needs holiday gifts for 11 children and 7 adults. They are also accepting donations of hygiene items, food and clothing. Donations can be dropped off at Wauna Federal Credit Union branches in Astoria and Warrenton.

“The Pioneer House appreciates community commitment and desire to help their residents through the holiday season and thanks Wauna Federal Credit Union for their efforts,” Michelle Jacobs, Manager of Pioneer House.

Clatskanie Branch

Brandi Page, Branch Manager

The 2008 Credit Union Charity Ride, despite uncooperative weather, was a huge success with 200 registered participants show up Saturday to brave the elements.

Between sponsorships and registrations, we were able to raise approximately $43,000 for the Doernbecher Children's Hospital.

The ride was a huge hit and everyone enjoyed the fantastic scenery along Hwy 30 in Oregon, out to Astoria and over the bridge and then back to Longview along Hwy 4.

Heritage Days is a great family event that brings the Clatskanie community together. Wauna Federal Credit Union was an official sponsor for Heritage Days 2008. We also sponsored the Gents Choice Award in the Clatskanie Cruisers Classic Car Show, the Guitar Hero booth, and won 2nd place in our category in the parade.

St Helens Branch

Christie Partridge , Branch Manager

2007 St Helens Career Fair - This community event is a networking opportunity for people looking for their next career. We believe the financial health of the community mirrors the financial health of our credit union as members are owners. This year we met many people interested in learning, growing and enjoying a day of making new career contacts.
For the month of March 2006, Wauna Federal Credit Unions’ St Helens branch was accepting donations of paper products for the St Helens Senior Center. To create a generous feeling among the public, Paulett Sicilia, Branch Manager offered a $100 drawing at the same time. The St Helens Senior Center received a huge response with over 40 packages of paper product from this donation drive. Paulett Sicilia continues her volunteer work with the senior center and many other community organizations. Dawn Johnson of Scappoose was the winner of the $100 drawing. “Congratulations to both the St Helens Senior Center and Dawn Johnson,” Paulett Sicilia, Branch Manager.

Vernonia Branch

Pam Weller, Branch Manager

August 2008 Vernonia Jamboree Sponsor and Participant

Pam Weller was thrilled to contribute to all of the Jamboree events this year as your branch manager and a member of your community. WFCU sponsored the Vernonia Ridge Riders Horse Show, Nehalem Valley Speed and Beauty Car Show, the Vernonia Logging Show and partipated in the Jamboree Parade. We took 1st place in our category with our "Vernonia Rocks" theme float.

Vernonia Chamber of Commerce honored the Vernonia branch of Wauna Federal Credit Union with the Business of the Year award. The award is voted on by the members of the chamber and is based on the businesses contribution to the community.  The Vernonia branch of Wauna Federal Credit Union participates in events held by the chamber including the annual Scarecrow competition (which WFCU has won twice) and most of the parades in town such as St Patrick’s Day and the Jamboree parade.  Attending Chamber meetings and supporting the “buy local” theme so that Vernonia will thrive is also part of the reason WFCU received the award this year.

Warrenton Branch

Karen Lempea, Branch Manager

Wauna Federal Credit Union participated in the 2007 Warrenton 4th of July parade. This is a local family fun event that is a must see for area residents. We enjoy seeing our members as we pass out candy, beads and temporary tattoos.

All Five Branches

More than 172 million credit union members around the world celebrated International Credit Union Day on Oct. 18, 2007, to commemorate the credit union movement’s history and achievements. In honor of this special day, Wauna Federal Credit Union invited the community to their five branches for cake, refreshments and prizes. Members of the credit union won 35 stainless mugs and $500 split between 8 winners in each branch.

Internationally, credit unions are recognized as a force for positive economic and social change and have found great success in both industrialized and emerging nations. They are built on a one member/one vote model that provides members with a unique opportunity to experience democracy firsthand.
