Check Card – Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Does the Check Card replace my Visa Card?

A. “No”, the Check Card is a Draft/Checking Account access card. It provides you with a convenient non-cash, non-check way to pay for everyday purchases with the money you have in your checking account. When you use a Visa Credit Card you are actually borrowing money on a line of credit which you must repay.

Q. What is the cost?

A. There are no fees assessed on WFCU’s Check Card.

Q. Can anyone use my Check Card and access my account?

A. No, each card issued will be assigned a four digit Personal Identification Number (PIN). This number will be known only by the cardholder and will arrive several days following the arrival of your new Check Card.

Q. How do I keep track of my account transactions?

A. Each time you use your Check Card you will receive a receipt for your records. Keep these receipts and enter the transactions into your check register. We also have card holders, which have a register attached. These have proven to be very useful for those who do not carry a check book.

You will receive a detailed monthly statement which will list the date, place, and amount of every Check Card transaction made on your account.

Q. Can I continue to use my Checks for bill paying?

A. Yes, the Check Card can be used in addition to writing checks. There may always be the need to write checks for purposes such as bill paying. But you will probably find that your Check Card will be much more convenient to use for those every day purchases, such as groceries, gas, retail, etc.

Q. How do I get a WFCU Check Card?

A. To request a Check Card please stop by or call the office nearest you.  A WFCU Member Service Representative will be happy to assist you.

Q. What if the Check Card is lost or stolen?

A. If you believe your Check Card has been lost or stolen call (503) 728-6121 OR 1-800-773-3236 (ext. 121).

After business hours, please use Phone Banking and request service code #68 and follow prompts.
